Sandham Psychological Services

Dr. Sandham has been immersed in the dancer and athletic career literature for approximately 17 years. In addition to conducting her graduate research in the area of early career transitions of amateur ballet dancers, she has presented on the topic at national and international conferences. As well, she has published on working with hopeful dancers in the therapeutic context. Not attaining a career that one has worked towards since childhood is difficult and can lead to feelings of hopelessness. However, research has shown that there is hope and dancers, athletes, caregivers, coaches, and dance teachers can play a pivotal role in easing this difficult transition.

In addition to speaking on career transitions of dancers and athletes, Dr. Sandham is also passionate about speaking on all things wellness.She has spoken on digital media’s impact on wellness, self-care for helping professionals, and Seasonal Affective Disorder within First Nations Communities.
