Clinical Supervision
Sandham Psychological Services
Supervision is an important part of developing as a psychologist. It is a space to strengthen clinical skills, explore your therapeutic approach, work through challenging questions, and continue developing confidence in who you are as a helping professional.
I am a Registered Psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists. I hold a Master of Education in School and Counselling Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan and a Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta. My area of competency is Clinical/Counselling Psychology, and my work is guided by the Canadian Code of Ethics for Psychologists.
My Approach to Supervision
My own journey to becoming a psychologist has contributed to a strong interest in supervision and mentoring emerging helping professionals.
I approach supervision as more than the development of clinical skills. The supervisory relationship also creates space for reflection, curiosity, professional growth, and the development of your own identity as a psychologist.
My approach considers the supervisory relationship, cultural factors, therapeutic and supervisory processes, developmental level, skill and competency development, ethical standards, practice environment, and the exploration of theoretical orientations.
My clinical work is primarily with adults and focuses on attachment injuries, trauma, relationships, and life transitions. I view therapeutic work through an attachment and emotion-focused lens and incorporate approaches including Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Hakomi, and hope-focused approach.
Supervision Experience
My supervision training has included a doctoral-level supervision seminar, workshops, and additional training courses.
My experience began during my Ph.D., mentoring counselling students entering the first year of their Master of Education program. After becoming a Registered Psychologist in August 2021, I developed a practicum program at The King’s University and supervised three master’s-level students. I currently also serve as an external supervisor for the University of Alberta’s Counselling Psychology M.Ed. program.
External Supervision
I provide individual external supervision in either a primary or secondary supervisory role for Registered Provisional Psychologists working in Edmonton and surrounding areas.
Prospective supervisees must hold a graduate degree from a Counselling or Clinical Psychology program that follows the scientist-practitioner model.
