Virtual Therapy Services for Yukon Residents

Sandham Psychological Services

Living in the Yukon offers incredible beauty and a strong sense of community, but accessing specialized mental health care can sometimes be challenging due to geography and limited local resources.

Through secure virtual therapy, residents across Whitehorse and communities throughout the Yukon can access professional psychological services from the comfort and privacy of their own homes.

At Sandham Psychology, we believe that everyone deserves access to quality mental health care, regardless of where they live. Our virtual therapy services provide the same professional, confidential, and evidence-based care as in-person appointments while eliminating the need for travel.

Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, or major life transitions, we’re here to support you.

Experience Supporting Indigenous Clients

Sandham Psychology recognizes the importance of providing culturally informed and respectful care for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis individuals. Meaningful therapeutic relationships begin with understanding the historical and ongoing impacts that colonialism, intergenerational trauma, and systemic barriers can have on mental health and well-being.

Our training has included dedicated education focused on Indigenous history and culturally responsive practice.

This includes:

  • Completion of the University of Alberta’s Indigenous Canada course, which explored the history, cultures, and contemporary realities of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.
  • Participation in a workshop on the impacts of historical trauma and approaches to supporting grief within Indigenous communities.
  • Ongoing annual professional development, required by the College of Alberta Psychologist, that focuses on continuing education and research focused on culturally responsive therapy with Indigenous clients.

We believe that culturally informed practice requires continual learning, reflection, and ongoing professional development. This commitment helps ensure that therapy remains respectful, informed, and responsive to each individual’s lived experience.

Clinical Experience Working with Indigenous Communities

In addition to training, our psychologist has worked with Indigenous individuals and communities throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan in a variety of clinical settings.

This experience includes:

  • Provided group therapy and psychological assessments for Indigenous adult student learners in an academic setting in Saskatchewan.
  • Provided therapy and psychological assessments for Indigenous clients within a community mental health clinic in Alberta.
  • Provided therapy, psychological assessments, and group therapy within return-to-work programs for Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) Indigenous clients.
  • Led an educational webinar on Seasonal Affective Disorder for First Nation communities through the First Nations Telehealth Network.
  • Currently providing therapy in a private practice setting, supporting Indigenous clients with complex trauma and other mental health concerns.

Every person’s story is unique. Therapy is always individualized and guided by your personal experiences, values, and goals.

Accessing a Psychologist in Yukon

(No Referral Required)

Residents of Yukon can access the services of a registered psychologist directly without a referral from a physician. Whether you are seeking support for anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship concerns, or other mental health challenges, you can book an appointment without first visiting your family doctor.

Psychologists in Yukon are regulated health professionals under the Health Professions Act and must be registered with the Government of Yukon to provide psychological services within the territory. This regulatory framework helps ensure psychologists meet established standards for education, competence, ethics, and professional practice.
